About Author
Yogesh Atal began his career as a University teacher back in 1959 and rose to become the first Director of Research at the Indian Council of Social Science Research in 1972. In 1974, he joined UNESCO as its first Regional Adviser for Social and Human Sciences for Asia and the Pacific, from which he moved to become UNESCO Co-ordinator for the UN World Summit for Social Development, held in 1995. Currently, he is Professor Emeritus at MP Institute of Social Science Research, Ujjain and serves as a Member of the Indian National Commission for Co-ordination with UNESCO. He is author and editor of several books and monographs. His textbook Sociology: The Study of the Social Sphere—a Pearson publication is greatly in demand.
