About Author

Robert Sewell (1845-1925) was an Indian civil servant and a historian. He was posted in Madras Presidency and was a Keeper of the Madras Record Office. He was involved in the documentation of ancient inscrip­tions and also participated in the archaeological project at Amravati, which was surveyed previously by Colin Mackenzie and Walter Elliot.
