Umakant Keshav Apte (Babasaheb Apte) was first Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). In 1930 when Dr. Hedgewar went for Satyagraha, he gave Babasaheb Apte responsibility of Shakha working. In 1931 Babasaheb officially became whole timer and he didn’t rest till his death in July 1972. In these 41 years he inspired so many youths to dedicate their lives for nation including Anantrao Gokhale, Nanaji Deshmukh, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay and many more. He was not only hard working but also very learned & thoughtful. He read thousands of books and that knowledge reflected in each of his speech and article. Despite being so intellectual he kept his speeches very simple and easy to touch the hearts of audience. He gave new dimensions & directions to old theories. He created bench marks on various topics. Even today most of speakers in RSS carry forward Babasaheb Apte’s points on various subjects.
