This book covers the subject of Praśna Śāstra, also called Horary Astrology, in great detail. This is built upon the foundation of several classical texts, including Praśnamārga, Praśnatantra, Daivajña Vallabha, Kṛṣṇīyam, Ṣaṭpañcāśikā and others. The concepts are explained with examples.

The focus of this volume (Part 1) is Praśnas relating to the 12 Bhāvas. For instance, 2H Praśna deals with financial gains; 4H Praśna deals with Agriculture, cultivation, and leasing agreements. 6H deals with matters concerning diseases, employee-employer relationships etc. The treatment of each of these topics is detailed with copious notes and explanations.

The subject of Praśna is extensive and includes Nimittas, Aṣṭamaṅgala Praśna, Manomuṣṭi Praśna, Kāryasiddhi Praśna, Devapraśna, Analysis of Dreams, and Esoteric Cakras like Candragupti Cakra which is used to locate water underground. Many of these topics will be covered in Part 2 (Book 23B).

This book aims to build a robust theoretical foundation; therefore, you will not find practical examples. If time permits, I will write a separate volume demonstrating the use of these principles with real-life case studies.

About Author

Sarajit Poddar, also known as Varāhamihira, is a passionate enthusiast of Jyotish (Vedic astrology). He began his journey under the tutelage of his paternal uncle, Sri Manoj Kānti Poddar, and received further guidance from Pt. Sanjay Rath. A dedicated seeker, Sarajit has spent over thirty years striving to understand the alignment of celestial forces and their influence on worldly affairs. His studies have focused on uncovering the hidden meanings behind the shlokas and sutras of classical texts, as well as reconciling their differences. Through this meticulous exploration, he has developed a profound understanding of Jyotish principles. Sarajit's quest for deeper insights into Jyotish culminated in the creation of his book, "In Search of Jyotish." In this work, he shares his observations, reflections, and experiences, offering valuable knowledge to fellow seekers. The book is a testament to his commitment to unveiling the secrets of Jyotish and his desire to connect with others who share his passion. By sharing his journey and findings, Sarajit aims to contribute to the collective understanding of Jyotish and inspire others on their path to uncovering the mysteries of the celestial and earthly realms.
