B. Brett Finlay, PhD, OC, is a Professor of Microbiology and Biochemistry in the Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia. A leading researcher on bacterial infections and the microbiome, he has been studying microbes for over forty years and has published over six hundred scientific articles.

Jessica M. Finlay, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Finlay is a health geographer and environmental gerontologist who investigates how built, social, and natural environments affect health and well-being across the life course.
