Literature mirrors the society. In other words, literature never lets the significant activities operated at the cent restage of society go unrecorded and this is why the literature, though it bears loads of its own pidgin, sometimes with enough arrangement to delude the judgments, is regarded a reliable source of history, if deciphered with connotative care. Of the historical value of references in literature, Sir George Grierson says, "I cordially agree with the importance of casual references in non-historical Indian literature, though very often neglected, they comraonly afford historical data which can not be found elsewhere".
