Role Models are people who inspire upward mobility in the society by expanding our aspirational vision and daring us to dream. A refreshing and unique account of the contributions of Indian Muslims to national life, Shehla Rashid brings together a formidable list of achievers such as AR Rahman, Sania Mirza, Nigar Shaji, Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Huma Qureshi among others who have excelled in their respective fields. She postulates the idea of a ‘Muslim civil society’ –a public sphere for the upliftment of the minority community – where new ideas can germinate, talent can achieve full potential, and reforms can take root. As Shehla sits to pen their vision for the future, she also gives a peek into her story, the choices she made and what led her to choose paths in an ever-evolving political system.
