Losing My Virginity and Other Dumb Ideas is the debut novel by the author Madhuri Banerjee. The book deals with the story of a thirty-year-old virgin who has a successful professional career but is still a virgin. After a long and failed pursuit of finding true love, the protagonist decides to lose her virginity without bothering about love. The drama woven on this track is the crux of the book. Kaveri is a thirty-year-old working woman, who is single all her life. She is a language expert and works as an interpreter. She has read countless books on how to date and knowing men in general. Her core pursuit lies in finding one true love of her life. Having had a long and unsuccessful run of finding the true love, Kaveri is standing at the start of her thirties, utterly frustrated. Deciding to waste no more time, Kaveri wants to lose her virginity with or without love. Upon this new aim, Kaveri meets her partner and loses her virginity. But matters don't end there. She has to undergo a frustrating relationship that shatters all her notion of true love. Losing My Virginity and other Dumb Ideas explores the journey of a woman who meets a romantic relationship after a long wait, only to get all her notions shattered and discover a 'new' her. The book is published in paperback, on 19 March 2011.
