There are over a billion Indians in the world! How are you the only girl who couldn’t find one to marry?
Yes, that girl is me. I’m Sanjana, and this is my story. Have relatives or aunties ever scolded you for showing too much skin, or gossiped about you dating a non-Indian? Are you defiant in your quest for self-expression despite growing up in a conservative Indian household?
Don’t worry, you won’t have to go through the shame alone, because I have already done it for you.
Come join me in this bitter-sweet journey as I rebel my way into finding my identity.

About Author
Sumati Huber is an editor and columnist residing in Bang- kok, Thailand. Growing up in a multicultural environment, humor and observation became her tools to navigate through the complexities of her Indian heritage amidst foreign cultural influences.
After earning a degree in English and Psychology from Emory University, she returned to Bangkok and joined Guru, a pres- tigious lifestyle magazine and weekly supplement of the Bang- kok Post. She quickly rose to become the magazine's youngest editor, writing a popular weekly column that satirized local politics, current events, and quirks of Thai society. It also garnered recognition from esteemed publications like the New York Times.
Currently, Sumati is a freelance columnist for Masala, a local Bangkok magazine. Her monthly column "Nama-Slay" enjoys a wide readership and continues to entertain and resonate with readers in the Thai-Indian community.
