My Enlightening Heart Disease is the story of the author’s unexpected heart attack at the age of 44, bringing him face to face with death. The journey that began in search of liberation from heart disease changed the author’s life, leading to the discovery of a healthier lifestyle, spiritual inquiry and finally becoming healthy again – body, mind, work and soul! In today’s world, this book is essential for all as the risk of heart disease looms over everyone. This is the English translation of the extremely popular and award-winning Marathi book, now in its 25th edition. About the Author Dr. Abhay Bang grew up in Mahatma Gandhi’s ashram and studied medicine in India, and public health in the US. He, along with his wife, Dr. Rani Bang, founded a public trust (SEARCH) in a remote tribal district Gadchiroli, in Maharashtra. For the past 40 years, Dr. Bang and his family live there providing medical care to rural and tribal people. They conducted several ‘global first’ studies in community health, including developing new approaches to reduce child mortality. These studies were published in the Lancet and have been adopted nationwide by the Government of India and in several developing countries. He has received more than 60 awards and honours, including ‘Padma Shri’ by the President of India, ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ – the highest honour of the state, ‘Champion of Public Health’ by the WHO, ‘Global Hero of Health’ by TIME magazine (US), and gold medal for outstanding research by the Indian Council of Medical Research.
