Look Back in Anger

John Osborne’s Look Back in Anger, regarded as a dark comedy, gave the strongest fillip to the concept of the angry young man. Jimmy Porter, Osborne’s hero, a boor, a self-pitying, self-dramatising, intellectual rebel who drives his wife away, takes a mistress and then drops her when, to his surprise, his wife comes crawling back, will not be considered an example of chivalry. The play is the study of a futile, frustrated wretch.
