The Ashtavakra Gita is considered to be the most distilled, purest form of the lessons of the Upanishads. It has been described variously as the final word, or the masterpiece, of the Advaita Vedanta school of Hindu philosophy.
The text is a dialogue, at once utterly simple and compellingly profound, between the sage Ashtavakra and the wise king Janaka on the nature of truth and how one can attain it. It is said that when all spiritual texts fall silent, Ashtavakra begins to speak.
In this book, two of India’s most exciting thinkers on Hinduism bring together their expertise and reflections on one of the most important texts of Hinduism, how it speaks to us today, and what vital lessons it holds for our lives.

Jai (verified owner) –
Book is split into two parts. First part is translation of Ashtvakra Gita by Bibek Debroy and second part is by Hindol Sengupta on his experience COVID and how we triednfonding solace in Ashtavakra Gita. Second part is little slow to read and often goes into other texts , some singers and other artist.
Irony I feel is for a book on Advaita or non Duality I cannot determine if this is a book which could perhaps be one of the most important book I ever read or something which will have 0 impact on me by me having read it.
It does drive same point home again and again. It’s though a thought which doesn’t leave mind easily.
