The book aims to fast-forward the students to the new paradigms of the HRM function while not losing foothold on the enduring, fundamental HR processes of planning, selection, development, and rewards. It attempts to provide a dual perspective of robust frameworks moored in sound theories and the experiential approaches to leverage them.

Those familiar with the first edition will note that there have been substantial changes in the second edition. The book describes the shift in industrial relations and the rise of new employment relations. It balances theories with experiential approaches to facilitate the reader’s understanding of the core concepts and frameworks. It presents the current HR practices in global organizations to acquaint readers with various strategic choices and initiatives within HRM. This second edition of the book is a thoroughly revised and updated treatise with complete chapters on new and upcoming topics.
