About Author

Younes Shabany graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, in 1991. He then pursued a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, graduating in 1994. Following this, he earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University in California in 1999. With over 18 years of experience in thermal-fluid engineering, Dr. Shabany currently holds the position of Director of Thermal Engineering & Design and Thermal Architect at Flextronics International USA in Milpitas, California. In this role, he oversees thermal design activities across Flextronics’ global design centers, focusing on a wide range of products such as infrastructure, computing, consumer electronics, automobiles, medical devices, and power electronics. Before joining Flextronics, Dr. Shabany worked at Applied Thermal Technologies in Santa Clara, California, where he served as director for two years. During his tenure, he collaborated with numerous companies, designing thermal solutions for various electronic equipment, including telecom and networking devices, desktop and laptop computers, biomedical instruments, and consumer products. In addition to his industry roles, Dr. Shabany has been a lecturer at San Jose State University in California since 2001. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in heat transfer and advanced mathematical analysis, with a particular passion for his course on Heat Transfer in Electronics. He also provides guidance to graduate students on their projects and theses.
