Energy efficiency is the largest, cheapest, cleanest, most environment friendly, most accessible the most untapped—energy resource. Energy efficiency is the practice of reducing the level of energy use without reducing the standard of living and production quality. The term applies to the use of energy at all stages, from its production, its transmission and conversion, to the end use. Using energy efficiency measures reduces energy waste and resource consumption, and thus costs. It also reduces the adverse environmental impact associated with the use of energy, such as global warming, and enhances sustainability. This comprehensive engineering textbook helps students master the fundamentals of energy management and build confidence in applying these basic principles in real world settings as an energy efficiency practitioner. Written by a team of experienced energy efficiency practitioners and educators, energy efficiency and management for Engineers features foundations and practice of energy efficiency measures for insulation, Boilers, steam systems, heat recovery, building heating and cooling systems, compressed air systems, lighting, electric motors, and cogeneration. Energy management practices including energy audits, billing rate structures, power factor, and specific energy consumption are discussed and analysed in detail. Special attention is paid to the economic and Environmental impacts of various energy efficiency measures in buildings, industrial facilities, and transportation.

Highlights:
1. Written with an intuitive and friendly approach and strong pedagogy
2. Includes numerous worked out examples and over 1400 end-of-chapter problems
3. Provides the engineering rationale behind all energy efficiency measures
4. Illustrates the strong link between theory and practical applications through solid descriptions and step-by-step solutions.
