Fuzzy logic is also used in designing controllers, since Edward mamdani (1971) developed this pioneering control of a steam engine using this technique. Most books on control systems do not deal with the associated components of a system.

About Author
K. Padmanabhan has taught the subject of Control Theory and Process Control in the I.I.T. (M), Alagappa College of Technology, Chennai, and the Instrumentation Department of the University of Madras. After his retirement, he is the Emeritus Professor in the Chemical Engg. Department, A.C. Tech., Anna University, Chennai. He has published several contributions in Process Control, particularly on PLC, Fuzzy Logic and Safety in Modbus Control. He has presented papers at the ACHEMA International Congress during several years on Process Control and Instrumentation.
