This is the thoroughly revised, enlarged edition of the book for young civil engineers preparing for various competitive examinations. This edition includes questions that appeared in the competitive examinations of Civil Services and Engineering Services, conducted by UPSC and also from GATE conducted by IITs. Many questions from this book have been set in a number of competitive examinations. The important features of this book are conciseness, complete coverage of the entire syllabus in a fewer questions, and explanations of the correctness of the answers to some typical questions (Appendix B).
