1. Hinduism – Ritual, Reason and Beyond: The book takes you on a journey through 5,000 years of Hinduism’s evolution, the result of seven years of dedicated research into its roots. Starting from the pre-Indus Valley period, it explores the origins of Hinduism, explaining the concepts of Hindu, Hinduism, and Sanatana Dharma. It delves into Hinduism’s oldest scriptures—the four Vedas—discussing their components and contents in detail.

The book highlights that the original translations of the Vedic texts were conducted by Western Sanskrit scholars, raising questions about the accuracy of these translations. Rituals such as Ashvamedha, Rajsooya, and Vajpeya, often mentioned in TV serials and talk shows, are thoroughly explained and demystified. Readers will be amazed by the detailed, step-by-step description of the grand Soma yajna.

The narrative then moves to Hinduism’s progression to the Age of Reason, discussing the Upanishads, its interaction with Buddhism, and its transformation into a society with idol worship, numerous gods, and a rich tapestry of myths. The Puranas are explored, revealing their contents and the reasons behind their creation.

The book also traces the development of Hinduism to its modern form, including idol worship and contemporary rituals. It provides detailed explanations of puja, the Sanskaras like Vivaha, the significance of each action, how these rituals are performed, the types of idols, and their consecration. Finally, it addresses thought-provoking questions such as the power of mantras and the meaning of rituals, helping readers understand the purpose and practice of Hindu traditions.

2. Hinduism: Challenges | Interaction with Buddhism, Jainism and The Greeks
Embark on a journey tracing Hinduism’s evolution from ancient Vedic rituals to modern practices, revealing a seamless continuity despite apparent changes. Witness how ancient mantras still echo in contemporary ceremonies, bridging millennia and maintaining a deep connection to the past. The book explores the etymology of “Hindu” and its alignment with “Sanatana Dharma,” encapsulating timeless principles of righteous living. It also delves into Hinduism’s encounters with Jainism, Buddhism, and the influence of Alexander the Great, highlighting how these interactions have shaped its diverse identity.

Discover how Hinduism, beyond being a religion, embodies Dharma—the righteous path to spiritual liberation. Marvel at its adaptability, absorbing and assimilating diverse ideologies over centuries, and emerging as a beacon of inclusivity and adaptation. In this dynamic interplay of cultures and beliefs, Hinduism stands out as a vibrant and resilient tradition, offering profound insights into the human quest for meaning and spiritual fulfillment.
