An Introduction to The Calculus of Variation For Engineers and Economics

The principal aim of this volume is to give an idea of the calculus of variation to the students of engineering and those engaged in higher studies in economics. Students in the field of application have neither time nor the inclination for the study of detailed treatments of this topic from the classical points of view. For this reason, the treatment of the text consists of showing how typical problem may arise and of establishing those parts of the relevant theory which are of principal practical significance. Methods of solving practical problems are also discussed.
