This is the Indian Edition of the book. Bhāva is unquestionably the most important area of Jyotiṣa. After learning the building blocks of Grahas, Rāśis, Kārakas, the Bhāvas is the next big step. The Bhāvas allow us to apply Jyotiṣa in our lives. The Bhāvas map an individual to the Kālapuruṣa. The zodiac or the Bhācakra starts from Meṣa and has 12 Rāśis. Similarly, an individual’s Kuṇḍalī starts from the Lagna and has 12 Bhāvas. The 12 Bhāvas of an individual correspond to the 12 Rāśis of the Kālapuruṣa. There is a saying that we are made in the same template as God. This concept of Bhāva supports that. There is a correspondence between the Jātaka Kuṇḍalī and the Kālapuruṣa Kuṇḍalī. Jātaka Kuṇḍalī is the Kuṇḍalī of an individual. In the Kuṇḍalī, when a Bhāva and its corresponding Rāśi in the Kālapuruṣa Kuṇḍalī are fortified, the matters related to the Bhāva attains prominence and success. For instance, when the 9th house and Dhanu Rāśi in a Kuṇḍalī are fortified, the native is born with good fortune and blessings of the Devatās. Contrary to it, if both are afflicted, the suffering is terrible. This book is an introduction to the 12 Bhāvas. This is an extensive field of knowledge, and explaining each Bhāva can occupy an entire book. The intention here is to provide a high-level overview of all the 12 Bhāvas so that one can undertake a study of each on their own. If time permits, I will pen my thoughts and reflections on each of the 12 Bhāvas separately!
