About Author

Derek A. Lobo’s work in the field of leprosy includes seven years in Bangladesh as a WHO consultant for leprosy, and six years as regional advisor for leprosy, filaria, worm infestations and yaws at the WHO Regional Office for Southeast Asia, coordinating programmes in eleven countries.

Mohan D. Gupte is an epidemiologist and a public health expert with forty-three years of experience in dealing with leprosy. A recipient of the International Gandhi Award, he is the founder and former director of ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology (ICMR-NIE). He conducted several vaccine trials and clinical trials in the field of leprosy, and was the first chairman of the WHO Technical Advisory Group for Leprosy (TAG-Leprosy).
