Today, English is the indisputable mistress of infinite number and variety of words. It is because it has assimilated words from numerous languages of the world in original or modified forms. This is one of the main reasons for the matchless enrichment of this language. Words in modern English are chiefly derived from Old English, Greek, Latin and French as also from several other languages such as Italian, German, Spanish, Arabic, Sanskrit, Hindi etc. Certainly, full justice couldn’t be done in this thin volume to all aspects of the multifaceted problems adumbrated above.
