About Author

Saumitra Mohan (IAS, 2002) is deputed in West Bengal. He is presently working as the Secretary, Department of Tourism. Before joining the IAS, he had worked as the Assistant Regional Director with the Indira Gandhi National Open University, as a Lecturer in Political Science with the Meerut University and as a journalist with the Press Trust of India. Having done his MA and M.Phil from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, he was awarded a doctorate for his thesis on, ‘Regimes in International Relations: A Study of the Refugee Problem in SouthAsia’ by the Centre for International Politics, Organization and Disarmamentof the same University. Dr. Mohan has authored fifteen books including ‘Life Lingua’, ‘India Unleashed: Problems and Prospects’, ‘Selected Contemporary Essays’, ‘Indian Policy and Development’, ‘Indian and the World’ and ‘Why Are We Born’ for different publishing houses. Many of his works have also been translated into Hindi and Bengali. He has also been conferred many state and national awards for his sterling contribution and association with different administrative and development-related initiatives. Chandan Jha is an educationist based in West Bengal. A graduate in science and education, he also holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics. Mr. Jha has long been associated with the guidance and counselling of the aspirants for the civil service and other competitive examinations. His profound interest and authority on the discipline of International Relations and current affairs have been suitably leveraged by many institutions and study circles. He has been a successful candidate of many competitive examinations and has been closely involved with the research and development of numerous popular teaching-learning materials which includes those pertaining to Indian Geography, Indian Economy, Indian Art and Culture and Indian Policy and Development. He has richly contributed to the development of various other books for UPSC and other competitive exams. He is presently working for St Paul’s Academy in West Bengal and deeply engaged with the mentoring of young minds. Chandan Jha is an educationist based in West Bengal.
