About Author

Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay was a famous Bengali novelist. Most of his works have been translated into Hindi. He was born in Devanandpur village of the Hoogly district on 15 September, 1876. His childhood was full of struggles. Rabindranath Tagore and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee had a profound impact on his life. In the novel, *Brahman Ki Beti*, Sharat Chandra has depicted the complex and orthodox opinions of the rural people in a spontaneous manner.
